| Learning how the information from genes gets used in cells is a large scientific challenge. Researchers are producing massive amounts of gene expression data daily using biochips. Understanding how biochips work is critical for harnessing this powerful technology, but modeling the behavior of molecules on biochips is a challenge. Researchers at the University of Houston are using multiscale modeling techniques to tackle this problem. This multiscale modeling approach requires the vast computing resources provided at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, such as the MSCF. Using high-performance computers and models to solve important questions in biology greatly benefits society. |
